RIT to Host College & Careers for High School Seniors

A group of students participated in an evening “ice breaker” event during a College & Careers session last July at RIT. Last year’s sessions drew participants from 32 states.

High school students looking for guidance in making career decisions can get help this summer at Rochester Institute of Technology.

RIT’s 21st annual College & Careers program, which draws participants from across the country, gives rising seniors the opportunity to explore career options through interactive academic sessions featuring activities, demonstrations and discussions with RIT students and faculty, along with campus tours and more.

No matter where they plan to attend college, participating students can also experience campus life by staying in residence halls, eating in campus cafeterias and participating in social activities with other college-bound seniors over two days. The program also includes a separate, optional program for parents focusing on the college search process, financial aid and more.

“College & Careers is basically a career conference for high school students. Students have a fun and unique opportunity to explore and investigate careers they are interested in and learn more about others that they might have never thought of—all while experiencing campus life at RIT,” says Colleen Peterson, senior associate director of undergraduate admissions.

College & Careers will be held in two sessions, July 22–23 (register by July 15) and Aug. 5–6 (register by July 29). Students can choose from among 65 academic workshops. Cost is $145 (including meals and accommodations) or $135 (program and meals only).
