RIT will host an information session for dislocated workers Jan. 11 in the Bausch and Lomb Center. The session will provide information on changing careers, financial aid, and tuition discounts.

While some experts believe the U.S. economy is slowly on the rise, many upstate New York residents are still feeling the pinch created by long-term unemployment and layoffs. Rochester Institute of Technology is willing to help local residents by providing viable options during this most recent recession.

RIT’s Office of Part-time and Graduate Enrollment Services is offering a free session especially for dislocated workers 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 11 in RIT’s Bausch and Lomb Center (Building 77). Program participants can gather information about tuition discounts, financial aid and changing careers.

“Our community is still feeling the effects of a struggling economy while continual layoffs are still occurring,” says Mandie Klingelhoffer, assistant director of RIT’s Part-time and Graduate Enrollment Services. “Our goal is to assist individuals who have been recently dislocated and help them enhance their resume to become re-employed in the Rochester area. The dislocated worker program provides a reduced tuition rate to allow these individuals to take advantage of advancing their education, whether it’s taking a few courses in a specific realm, completing a bachelor’s program or beginning a graduate degree.”
