RIT hosts technical communication conference
Rochester chapter of the Society for Technical Communications focuses on strategic storytelling
The Rochester Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication will hold its annual conference, Spectrum, on April 17-19 at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Louise Slaughter Hall. This year’s theme is Mastering Tech Comm: Harness the Power of Story.
The event will feature Charles Cooper, vice president of the Rockley Group and an experienced and respected speaker and content strategist. His keynote, “What’s the Story about Stories?” opens the conference at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 18 in RIT’s Louise Slaughter Hall. Cooper is a co-author of a number of books, including the ground-breaking Managing Enterprise Content: A Unified Content Strategy, DITA 101: Fundamentals of DITA for Authors and Managers, and eBooks 101: The Digital Content Strategy for Reaching Customers Anywhere, Anytime, on Any Device. He wrote the section on adaptive content for the recent collaborative publication The Language of Content Strategy.
Registration for the event can be done online. Participants can attend leadership sessions as well as a full day of presentations led by technical communications experts, who will discuss topics such as professional development, writing for the web, managing multilingual documentation, connecting research and content, usability testing and understanding new software.
