RIT Kosovo, art gallery host 'Unearthing a lost alphabet'
Alumnus Edon Muhaxheri completed graduate thesis on a Fulbright scholarship
RIT Kosovo (A.U.K.) and The National Gallery in Kosovo Galeria e Arteve e Kosoves are hosting a unique exhibition that unearths a lost Albanian alphabet.
“Evetari - Ringjallja e Alfabetit/Unearthing a lost alphabet,” will be debuting in an opening reception today at 6 p.m. at The National Gallery in Kosovo.
RIT Kosovo alumnus Edon Muhaxheri will give a talk on the “lost alphabet” and completing his graduate thesis exhibition. Muhaxheri recently finished an MFA in illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art on the Fulbright Foreign Student Program—and has been invited to stay an additional year to teach at MICA.
“Edon’s thesis work revived an almost forgotten Albanian alphabet and has been making headlines around the design world,” said Daniel Cosentino, vice president for academic affairs and director of RIT Academic Programs at RIT Kosovo.
The National Gallery in Albania will be the permanent home of the work and the automaton that creates the letters.
