RIT ‘Men’s Hockey Postgame Rewind’ Podcast Replays Game Action
Audio podcast features scoring recap, coach’s interview, other game highlights
A new podcast from Rochester Institute of Technology allows fans of RIT Tigers men’s hockey to replay game highlights and hear the postgame remarks of Tigers Head Coach Wayne Wilson—whenever and wherever they want.
The “WITR RIT Tigers Men’s Hockey Postgame Rewind” is for fans who didn’t make it back to their cars in time for the WITR-FM (89.7) postgame show, those who missed an entire broadcast or those wanting to hear a replay. Each podcast episode features a scoring summary (including replays of the play-by-play of RIT goals scored), a postgame interview with Wilson (now in his 10th year as Tigers head coach) and other game highlights, including the “Three Stars of the Night” and “Collision of the Game.”
New episodes, available on Wednesdays following weekend games, are accessible on the RIT University News Web page under “Latest Podcasts.” They are available also via RSS feed, Apple iTunes and the Dateline: RIT Facebook Group.
The podcast, hosted by the Tigers radio broadcast team of Ed Trefzger, Chris Lerch and Scott Biggar (each an RIT alumnus), is produced by RIT University News Services in association with WITR. Trefzger, of Rochester, has been associated with RIT men’s hockey broadcasts for more than 25 years; Lerch, of Greece, is in his 14th year calling game action; and Biggar, of Henrietta, who has been affiliated with the broadcasts for five years, joined the booth full time this season.
“The Tigers’ fan base includes not only current RIT students, faculty, staff and alumni, but an extended group comprising the players’ family and friends—many of them out-of-town—along with a growing number in the Greater Rochester community at large,” says Lerch. “This new podcast is ideal for those fans who missed a broadcast or just want to ‘relive’ an exciting game.”
The Tigers, members of the Atlantic Hockey Association in NCAA Division I, are in second place heading into games against American International College Jan. 16-17 at Ritter Arena on the RIT campus.
Notes: All RIT Tigers men’s hockey games are broadcast on WITR-FM (89.7).
