RIT Museum Studies Demystifies AI for Museum Students and Pros

RIT Business Librarian Jennifer Freer and UR’s Interim Director, Learning Initiatives, Lara Nicosia, presented the second session “Choose Your AI Adventure: Tools and Strategies for Success.”

“We wanted to take the fear and anxiety out of conversations about AI and museums and libraries," said Juilee Decker, Ph.D., director of RIT’s dynamic undergraduate museum studies BS program

The workshop, AI 101 for Archives and Museums, was co-sponsored by RIT Archives and the RIT College of Liberal Arts.

"To kick us off, Dr. Chris Collison from RIT’s AI Hub laid the foundation of what AI and machine learning are and how they function. We ended the day with a session where several attendees reflected on how AI could be a useful tool, enhancement, and bridge between now practices and next practices,” said Decker.

The next event in this series, funded by the Central New York Humanities Corridor, will be held on November 15, 2024.
