RIT Named Among Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools

The E. Philip Saunders College of Business

Rochester Institute of Technology’s E Philip Saunders College of Business is an outstanding business school, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company has selected the school for inclusion in the 2010 edition of its book, Best 301 Business Schools, now available in bookstores.

In response to RIT’s selection, Saunders College of Business Dean Ashok Rao says, “The faculty and staff of the E. Philip Saunders College of Business believe in student-centered learning and continue to develop exciting new programs. We prepare our students to succeed in today’s innovative and globally diverse companies.”

According to Robert Franek, vice president and publisher of the Princeton Review: “We select schools for this book based on several criteria. They cover three areas: our regard for their academic programs and other offerings, institutional data we collect about the schools, and opinions of students attending the schools.”

The Saunders College profile mentions it comes as no surprise that the RIT MBA “concentrates on both business and technology,” with a “practical, rather than theoretical, structure and philosophy” that students find appealing.

According to students in the program, RIT’s “blend of engineering and business for the MBA program” results in “course material that is highly applicable to existing industry issues.”

Best 301 Business Schools has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services. The Princeton Review does not name a best business school overall or rank the schools in the book from one to 301.

Note: One of eight colleges at RIT, the E. Philip Saunders College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International and enrolls more than 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The Saunders College and its entrepreneurial Venture Creations Incubator works in partnership with RIT’s Albert J. Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to integrate business education with RIT’s world leading technical and creative programs. The business school also launched an executive MBA online program this fall.

In six consecutive years since 2004, Saunders undergraduate programs have ranked in the top five percent of all U.S. business schools, according to U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges. In 2009, it was named one of the “Great Schools for Accounting Majors!” in The Princeton Review's “The Best 368 Colleges.”
