Stargazers are invited to an open house at the Rochester Institute of Technology Observatory to view the gibbous moon, Jupiter and the Orion Nebula.

A few meteors from the Geminid Meteor Shower might be visible as well, said Michael Richmond, physics professor and director of the RIT Observatory.

The free event will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

“If the skies are cloudy, we will provide a presentation on the Chinese Chang’e 3 lunar rover, which should land on the Moon the next day,” Richmond said.

The RIT Observatory is located at 645 John St., near the intersection of John Street and Bailey Road.
