Lynn Rowoth, who spearheaded the Rochester Institute of Technology 2010 United Way Campaign that raised in excess of $426,000, has been named campaign coordinator of the year by the United Way of Greater Rochester. Rowoth has coordinated the fundraiser for the past five years with a team of 250 volunteers annually including RIT retirees, alumni, students, faculty and staff.

“I know for all of you who have had the experience of working with Lynn this is no surprise and considered extremely well deserved,” says Melinda A. Merante, senior campaign associate for United Way of Greater Rochester. “We know of all the hard work, enthusiasm, attention to detail and commitment to excellence that she has exemplified over many years. She is second to none.”

Rowoth, who is the director of special events and conferences in the office of RIT’s Government and Community Relations, will receive the prestigious Richard P. Miller Sr. Award—named in honor of the second president of the local United Way. She will be recognized on Wednesday, June 2, prior to the Red Wings baseball game at Frontier Field. RIT has secured and handed out close to 1,000 tickets to RIT employees who wish to attend the game.

“We at RIT are thrilled to see Lynn Rowoth’s leadership as our campaign coordinator recognized in this way,” says Deborah Stendardi, vice president of government and community relations at RIT. “She has taken the RIT campaign to new heights with her dedication and commitment to this vital community asset, and we are exceedingly proud of her and of our campus’ exemplary support for the United Way.”

Rowoth, a graduate of Florida International University and a resident of Brighton, is the fourth RIT employee to receive the Richard P. Miller Sr. Award. Past recipients include Stendardi, as well as Cindee Gray, managing director of the RIT-Rochester General Health System Alliance, and Vicki Dodds, former RIT donor relations associate.
