ROAR Day renews annual giving appeal

Faculty, staff and students are ready to turn up the volume on RIT’s annual fundraising effort.

ROAR Day, the fifth annual Raise Our Annual Responses initiative, takes place on Oct. 28. Ten stations will be set up across campus to promote annual gifts to RIT, and all members of the RIT community are encouraged to take part. Students, faculty and staff can enter to win prizes including an iPod, Barnes & Noble gift cards, Brick City Café gift certificates and hockey tickets.

In addition, President Bill Destler and Rebecca Johnson have renewed the Destler/Johnson Student Gift Challenge. For the fourth consecutive year, they are offering a dollar-for-dollar match, up to a total of $10,000, for student gifts in support of specific areas of interest at RIT.

Volunteers will be available to assist with gift giving from 9 to 11 a.m. at Facilities Management; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Artesano/Digital Den atrium, Brick City Café in the Student Alumni Union, Crossroads, B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences atrium, Shumway Dining Commons, Student Life Center, and the main entrance to Wallace Library; 5 to 7 p.m. in the Grace Watson Hall lobby and Crossroads; and 10 to 11 p.m. at the Corner Store in the Nathaniel Rochester Hall. Cash, checks, credit cards, payroll deduction pledges and Tiger Bucks will be accepted at all locations.

All donors will receive a free gift and can designate contributions to specific areas of interest at RIT. Undesignated ROAR Day gifts will support the Student Gift Challenge. Last year, nearly 1,000 campus donors, including 546 students, contributed more than $27,000.
