Shuttle Astronaut will Stress Leadership Development in April 6 Presentation at RIT
Greg Harbaugh was instrumental in Hubble Telescope repair, space missions
Shuttle astronaut Greg Harbaugh knows what it means to reach for the stars. Harbaugh has explored the ‘final frontier’ on four shuttle missions and will come to Rochester Institute of Technology to talk about the role that leadership skills have played in his career. Harbaugh presents “Leadership in Space” at 9 p.m. April 6, in Xerox Auditorium, Kate Gleason College of Engineering. The free talk is sponsored by RIT’s Sigma Chi fraternity.
In his presentation, Harbaugh will provide a look into his four space-shuttle missions and will show rarely seen images taken from space with the Hubble Telescope. Harbaugh has logged 818 hours in space and 18 hours, 29 minutes of space-walk time. His missions included the historic first-time docking with the Russian Mir Space Station as well as servicing the Hubble Space Telescope. He has also earned the NASA Distinguished Service Award, Rotary National Award for Outstanding Leadership, Sigma Chi International Fraternity Significant Sig Award, Purdue University Outstanding Aerospace Engineer and Astronaut Alumnus Award, and Johns Hopkins University Presidential Medal. In addition to these achievements, Harbaugh is president of the Sigma Chi Foundation.
