Software engineering students’ Project Day today
Over the past two quarters, software engineering seniors at RIT have been solving real-world software issues for customers as part of their Senior Project capstone course.
This year, teams of four to five students worked with local companies and nonprofit organizations, including Paychex Inc., Bike New York and Harris RF Communications, to develop proposals from the businesses.
“Students carry the project from inception through an entire software development lifecycle,” says Jim Vallino, professor and chair of the Department of Software Engineering. “The end result is a functional software tool ready for use by the organization.”
A free and open Project Day will be held 11:45 a.m.–1:45 p.m. today in the first floor East corridor of Golisano Hall. Students will demonstrate the 12 projects and software prototypes. Thirty-minute project presentations will also be given 4–6 p.m. May 2, 7, and 9 in the Golisano Hall auditorium. A schedule will be posted soon.
