Student Government hosts forum on Henrietta housing proposal tonight

RIT students address concerns in advance of Nov. 2 town board meeting

The town of Henrietta is considering a proposal to limit housing to up to three unrelated people in houses and apartments within town limits. This new restriction could affect members of the RIT community who live off-campus, excluding residents of Park Point, the Province, and Westbrooke Commons.

To address student concerns, RIT Student Government will hold an open forum on the Henrietta housing proposal from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight in Ingle Auditorium, Student Alumni Union.

The forum will address questions and comments that students may have about the proposed legislation. Both RIT and Henrietta officials will be present in a panel to offer information and clarity about the situation.

“We want to resolve this in a thoughtful manner and show how many of us care about our presence and reputation within this community,” says Greg Pollock, RIT Student Government president.

Attendance at the event is limited to members of the RIT community, and it will be interpreted and filmed for those who cannot attend. It can be viewed on the Student Government website and on SGTV, channel 15, on the RIT campus.

The forum is in advance of the Henrietta Town Board’s meeting to hear concerns and potentially vote on the proposal at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Henrietta Town Hall.
