Get a taste of what our classes are all about—from history to literature
Don’t hibernate at home this winter—take advantage of classes and other activities that spark intellectual stimulation.
If you’re age 50 or older, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT is offering a sampling of classes held during the winter session from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 5.
On tap for Wednesday’s classroom activities are: “In Search of the Earliest Humans in the Western Hemisphere” with Kathy Hayes, “Nadine Gordimer: History from the Inside” with Mary Barrett, “Taxes and Tax Policy” with Phil Weisberg, and “The United States Supreme Court: Does it Decide the Law or Make It” with Al Kreimer.
Winter classes run from Jan. 10 through March 11 and are held at the Athenaeum Building in the Riparian Independent Living Complex at Rivers Run, 50 Fairwood Drive, Suite 100. Note: Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT is a membership-led organization that stimulates minds and forges friendships among people ages 50 and older who live in greater Rochester. Members participate in classes, discussions, lectures, social events and travel while engaging in a variety of courses, including the arts, literature, sciences, history and government. The organization was founded in 1987 as The Athenaeum, an affiliate of Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2006, it became an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, joining a growing national network of more than 100 university-based centers.
