Venture Creations welcomes two new companies
Addition of Empire Medicinals and Dimension Technologies brings number of client companies to 27
Rochester Institute of Technology’s Venture Creations business incubator has announced the recent inclusion of two new companies to its roster.
Empire Medicinals, founded by RIT alumnus Q. George Zheng and Christopher Carter, is a biotech manufacturer hoping to advance health and wellbeing by modernizing traditional herbal medicines through the cultivation, extraction and packaging of USDA organic, natural medicinal supplements. Their first product, Lingzhi Essence, is a dietary supplement made from
Ganoderma Lucidum mushrooms. Called the “mushroom of immortality” in China and Japan, it has reportedly been used for thousands of years for issues varying from immune system modulation to relieving fatigue.
“Today there is widespread distrust of the supplements industry,” said Zheng, chief executive officer. “There have been numerous cases of contaminated mushrooms and botanicals on the market in recent years, and many products are being sold with no evidence that they actually work. We’re going to change that.”
Dimension Technologies is a research and development company that has patented two- and three-dimensional backlight systems monitor and television manufacturers that provides glasses-free high-definition 3D. The company also builds custom 3D video and display solutions for a variety of specialized applications like telerobotics, remote-vehicle driving, telesurgery, simulation, inspection, military, law enforcement and vision studies.
Venture Creations was created in 2003 to provide services to incubating companies, facilitating the development and operation of these companies for the purpose of advancing the educational and research missions of RIT through the enhancement of faculty, student and staff involvement in high technology. It was also created to promote economic development and competitiveness in Monroe County and New York state by encouraging and facilitating the transfer of technology resources to the marketplace. Since 2010, 34 companies have graduated from the incubator.
