RIT’s School of Film and Animation (SOFA) has earned a spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s top film schools list. Ranking at number 25, this is the first time RIT has been included in The Hollywood Reporter’s rankings.

Michael Sim, an Army lieutenant colonel who was previously stationed in Ft. Drum in Watertown, N.Y., taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and most recently in Italy for NATO, has been selected to lead RIT’s Army ROTC program.

The duty of a photojournalist is to document current events as they unfold and act as the “eyes of history,” according to Evan Vucci. That belief helped Vucci keep his focus when he ran toward the danger on July 13 to photograph former President Donald Trump moments after a failed assassination attempt.

The award is part of the NSF’s Research Traineeship Program (NRT), a national initiative to better prepare master’s and doctoral students for the interdisciplinary talents required in semiconductor chip development. The grant will provide 20 doctoral student fellowships to advance research in the much-needed field of semiconductor technologies.

The award is given to an individual who began their studies as a first-year student at RIT and is entering their final year of undergraduate study with the highest grade point average across the university.

This summer, Ritter had synthetic turf installed on its floor and has been transformed into a new space for athletics. It will also be used to host university functions, Wellness classes, practices, and recreational activities, and be available for rent from outside interests.

A team of researchers at RIT is expanding its work in studying the impact of marine debris beyond the Rochester region and into nearby Great Lakes communities.

The two-week trip was the culmination of the Japanese Game Industry course, where students learned about the world’s third largest video game market. RIT students immersed themselves in the culture, participated in a game jam with Japanese students, and visited a major Japanese game studio.
