New NSF Grant: Articulatory and Perceptual Constraints on Natural Language Evolution
The deaf 𝑥 lab is thrilled to announce a new collaboration between RIT, Boston University and U Penn. With support from NSF, we will be starting a new project called “Multimethod Investigation of Articulatory and Perceptual Constraints on Natural Language Evolution”. Using computer vision and human movement modeling techniques, we will be asking whether sign languages have evolved to make it easier for the perceiver, or for the producer of linguistic utterances.
