Services Available for Students
Access Services and Support
RIT provides one of the most accessible education communities in the world for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, including captionists, notetakers and the largest staff of sign language interpreters in the world.
Audiology and Speech/Language Services
Your student never has to leave campus for audiological and speech/language services. On-site audiologists provide services related to hearing and hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive devices. Speech-language pathologists also offer a broad range of speech and language services to assist your student.
Counseling and Academic Advising Services
Students have access to a unique array of educational support services, including experienced faculty tutors, personal and career counseling, and academic advising. All faculty and staff are skilled at working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students of all communication modes.
NTID Co-op and Career Services
Employment specialists in the NTID Co-op and Career Center will work with your deaf or hard-of-hearing student throughout their time at RIT. Services include advising and assisting with job search preparation.
Public Safety
RIT has made sure its campus is safe and accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. This includes specially designed dorm rooms, including strobe fire alarms and doorbells, and visual emergency warning systems present in all academic buildings. RIT Public Safety is easily accessible by phone, text, and blue light security call boxes located around campus. TigerSafe is the official safety app of RIT and provides instant access to campus safety resources.

With more than 300 student clubs and organizations supporting 13,000+ on- and off-campus events, your student is going to find something fun—and make some friends along the way.
