Conducting the Work of PEN in Russia
Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU) joined the PEN-International network in project year two (2002). In year three (2003), 15 institutions joined with BMSTU to form PEN-Russia. During that same year, BMSTU conducted instructional technology workshops for administrators and teachers from four secondary schools from Moscow. In year five, three new institutions from Russia joined the network: the Institute for Social Rehabilitation at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU), Vladimir State University Center for the Deaf (VSU), and the Academy of Management-TISBU in Kazan. Bauman Moscow State Technical University is the lead PEN-International partner in Russia, and often leads by example. In year five, BMSTU conducted an unprecedented 22 seminars with specialists working with deaf and hard-of-hearing children in special groups, classes, schools and audiology rooms in 20 different cities across Russia.
