Student Hall for Exploration and Development
An Idea Supercollider
RIT’s SHED–the Student Hall for Exploration and Development–serves as the university’s creative hub. The building centralizes RIT’s makerspaces and performing arts, providing dedicated space for students to create, imagine, and build through inspired learning, making, testing, performing, and doing. The SHED also displays work for all of campus to experience.
Research Facilities
Fueling Innovative Investigation
Throughout the RIT campus, upgrades and renovations are taking place to research and classroom facilities to foster collaborative research and exploration across fields as diverse as science, engineering, art and design. High-tech, smart classrooms, start-of-the-art labs and research spaces will continue RIT’s driving growth in supported research.
ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute
Leading Critical Cyber Defense
The ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute is a new 52,000-sq-ft, state-of-the-art facility focused on cybersecurity education, training, and research. Taking a holistic approach to cybersecurity, the institute encourages collaboration between academic disciplines, industry, and government to expand cybersecurity knowledge and make it useable in the real world.
Saunders College of Business Expansion
Driving the Next Generation of Leaders
The Saunders College of Business expansion supports a forward-thinking educational approach of integrating business with technology and design thinking. Renovations will enhance learning with modern spaces that support collaboration, boost professional networking, encourage applied research, and foster business community engagement.
Music Performance Theater
Engaging Students’ Expressiveness
RIT is developing the leading performing arts program in the nation for non-majors. With thousands of RIT students involved in the performing arts, plans are moving forward for a complex that features a 750-seat theater, rehearsal spaces, and eventually a 1,500-seat orchestra hall for larger audiences.
Athletic Facilities
Roaring to Life
The athletics project includes a relocation of the outdoor track and the addition of a synthetic running surface; upgraded, all-weather artificial turf baseball and softball fields; and a stadium complex with a state-of-the-art artificial turf field, locker rooms, training facilities, concessions, press box, and premium suite accommodations.
