A Rochester Institute of Technology graduating student leader who has been engaged in public service, Student Government and environmental stewardship, and a dedicated administrator who helped expand RIT’s global presence as well as being an active community volunteer locally and in Haiti, have been named winners of this year’s Alfred L. Davis Distinguished Public Service Awards.

More than 100 RIT students were honored Thursday as Outstanding Undergraduate Scholars. The students were also able to invite the high school or community college teacher that made the most impact on their education.

Ali Vatansever ’08 MFA (film production) screened his film at The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the world’s largest publicly attended film festivals.

MicroMasters programs are designed for learners with an undergraduate degree who are looking to advance their careers and learn new skills. Learners who successfully earn an RITx MicroMasters certificate may apply for admission to the RIT program that offers a pathway to credit aligned with their certificate.

A team of scientists from RIT and Georgia Tech developed a new approach that can not only help diagnose heart conditions and test new treatments, but pushes the boundaries of cardiac science by opening up a floodgate of new cardiac research and education.

RIT alumni and long-time supporters of FIRST Robotics, Dan Schneiderman and Joe Kessler, were recognized as the 2019 Regional as Volunteers of the Year during the FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional competition March 15 and 16. Most college career fairs pair students with company recruiters looking to hire students after graduation. But at RIT, thousands of co-op placements a year are also offered, giving students experiential learning and a foot in the door after graduation.
