NASA astrophysicist is RIT’s Academic Convocation keynote speaker

Thomas Zurbuchen, astrophysicist and the longest continually serving associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate in NASA’s history, will be the keynote speaker for RIT’s Academic Convocation ceremony starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12, in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. Leon Reznik, professor of computer science, published Intelligent Security Systems: How Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science Work For and Against Computer Security. The textbook synthesizes techniques and emphasizes practical and actionable strategies that can be immediately implemented to harden computer systems against threats.

Ben Ocamb, a fifth-year industrial engineering student, was selected as The NACA Mid-Atlantic Region Student Leader of the Year, given to a student who has demonstrated leadership, citizenship, and cooperation as well as demonstrating an impact in student activities on their campuses. His award nomination stated: “Ben is an exceptional leader, embodies the values of this award, has shown commitment at a level I have not seen in a student for some time and I have no doubt will continue to grow.”
