Beth Bogart BS ‘19 (Imaging Science)
Laboratory Engineer at the University of Rochester Lab for Laser Energetic
Beth is currently an engineer at the UR's Lab for Laser Energetics. She primarily works with ultrafast time-resolved x-ray imaging diagnostics to support high-energy-density physics experiments. She earned an MS in Optics from the University of Rochester in 2020 and a BS in Imaging Science from RIT in 2019. While at RIT, she was involved with COSSAB and helped lead the COS ambassador program and the Imaging Science Club.
Jeremy Kane BS ‘19 (Biotechnology)
Research Technologist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute
After graduating with a B.S. in Biotechnology in 2019, Jeremy began his scientific career first as a seasonal field technician studying grapevine diseases at Cornell University. He realized that the field of his undergraduate research, cancer biology, was where his passions lay and then took a position at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where he has been heading the wet lab effort of a project to study chondrosarcoma therapy. Jeremy will continue his career in cancer sciences and begin his Ph.D. in the fall.
Susan Gordona BS ‘94 (Applied Mathematics)
Senior Vice President, Platform Strategy at Fidelity Investments
Sue Gordona is a Senior Vice President at Fidelity Investments. In her current role, she is responsible for leading a team focused on driving customer and data strategy at the intersection of two of Fidelity’s major business units – Personal and Workplace Investing.
Sue is a nineteen-year Fidelity veteran and has held leadership roles in product management, product development, solution delivery, and general management spanning Fidelity’s business units. Most recently, she was responsible for creating and managing an enterprise capability for establishing strategic partnerships that connect Fidelity customers to world-class solutions at a great value. This involved working with partners outside and within Fidelity to solve customer needs through innovative solutions and driving technology capabilities that make establishing and managing those partnerships easy and effective. Prior to this role, she was the Capability Owner for the Money Movement capability within Fidelity’s Personal Investing (PI) unit. In this role, she directed a team of business and technology professionals focused on building out modular components to drive a frictionless and digital customer experience for customers wanting to move money into, around, and out of their Fidelity accounts. Previous roles at Fidelity include leadership of a large organization of program, project managers, business analysts, Agile delivery professionals, the leadership of Fidelity’s agile transformation initiative, which targeted adoption of lean and agile principles and practices to deliver value to customers faster, product management of the suite of investment guidance products within Fidelity’s Advisory Solutions organization, and product management of Total Retirement products (DC and DB) within Fidelity’s Workplace Investing unit. Prior to coming to Fidelity, Sue helped Fortune 50 clients apply technology to their business challenges as a Technology Solutions consultant at A.T. Kearney and a Systems Consultant with Hewitt Associates. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Rochester Institute of Technology and was the 2019 recipient of the College of Science Distinguished Alumni Award. In addition to her RIT degree, Sue holds an MBA from Babson College, and NASD Series 7 and 24 licenses.
Sue currently resides in Syracuse, NY with her son Nicholas.
Kelsey Gosselin BS ‘14 (Biochemistry)
Account Supervisor at Cadent Medical Communications, a Syneos Health company
After graduating from RIT in 2014 with her BS in Biochemistry, Kelsey earned her MA in Neuroscience from Boston University. She then focused her career on science communications, working first as the Manager of Medical and Scientific Research Engagement with the Alzheimer's Association, MA/NH Chapter before moving into her current position as Account Supervisor with Cadent Medical Communications in Boston, MA.
Taylor Gosselin BS ‘14 (Biochemistry)
Data Engineer, Image Analysis at Invicro, A Konica Minolta Company
Taylor graduated from RIT in 2014 with his BS in Biochemistry before earning his MS in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Connecticut. He then pivoted into a career in data science, working first at Tufts Health Plan before moving into a position as a data engineer in R&D applications with Alkermes. Taylor currently is a data engineer in image analysis with Invicro, A Konica Minolta Company in Boston, MA.
Rodolfo Montez Ph.D. ‘10 (Astrophysical Science & Technology)
Astrophysicist - Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian
Rodolfo “Rudy” Montez, Jr. is an astrophysicist at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian working in the Director’s Office of the Chandra X-ray Center where he helps operate one of NASA’s four Great Observatories, the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Dr. Montez received the first astrophysics Ph.D. from RIT in 2010. Following a brief post-doctoral position at RIT, Dr. Montez spent three and a half years as a postdoctoral scholar at Vanderbilt University and Fisk University mentoring underrepresented students in the Fisk-Vanderbilt Master's-to-PhD Bridge Program before arriving at the Center for Astrophysics in 2016. Dr. Montez studies evolved and dying stars using ground- and space-based observatories.
Kylie Pleakis BS ‘19 (Applied Mathematics)
Software Engineer at Metron
Kylie Pleakis is a software engineer with a strong interest in machine learning and data science applications. After graduating in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from RIT, she was a data scientist at Cisco in the Security & Trust Organization where she helped construct and evangelize a new cybersecurity risk quantification program. She is currently a software engineer at Metron, a defense contractor based in Reston, Virginia where she builds mathematical models to solve problems for the US Navy. She is completing her master’s degree in computer science part-time through the Georgia Institute of Technology. In her free time, she loves to run, hike, and explore new parts of her neighborhood. Her favorite activity is training her dog, Annie, who recently became a certified therapy dog.
Jonathan B. Phillips MS ‘99, Ph.D. ‘11 (Color Science)
Manager, Pixel Display Color & Image Quality Team | Android Software at Google
Jonathan B. Phillips' experience in the imaging industry spans over 30 years, having worked at Kodak in both chemical and electronic photography for more than 20 years followed by image scientist positions with NVIDIA and Google. Currently, he is managing a color and image quality team at Google responsible for the displays of the Pixel smartphone product line. Jonathan is co-author of Camera Image Quality Benchmarking, a 2018 book addition to the Wiley-IS&T Series in Imaging Science and Technology collection. His graduate studies were in color science at Rochester Institute of Technology and his undergraduate studies were in chemistry and music at Wheaton College (IL).
Madison Ricco BS ‘18 (Biology)
Inpatient Pharmacy Intern at UCHealth & Graduate Student Researcher in the Anchordoquy Laboratory
Madison is a 2022 Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate and a 2023 M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences candidate at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. After graduating from RIT in 2018, she opted to pursue a pharmacy degree with the intention of applying the clinical knowledge learned to a career in research. She quickly joined the Anchordoquy lab where she is working on a project to put chemotherapy in a protein found in cow's milk to allow cancer patients to take their chemo orally rather than needing to go to an infusion center. She also works as an inpatient intern at the region's only academic medical center, so gets to enjoy the very different worlds of clinical and bench research work. In order to best prepare herself for post-graduation career opportunities, she is concurrently pursuing an M.S. focusing on Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics to supplement her clinical education. As a former President of the College of Science Student Advisory Board and the Honors Program Council, she is excited to take part in this event and answer any questions you might have about pharmacy, research, or clinical work.
