- Portable, Real-time Sequencing
The Oxford Nanopore MinION represents a portable, real-time sequencing device that produces ultra-long reads from individual DNA and RNA molecules without the need for PCR amplification. Each MinION run yields 10-20 Gb of raw data, with 75% of these reads successfully passing quality control filters. Nanopore sequencing is currently the sole technology capable of sequencing native DNA and RNA strands without amplification or the use of optics. Furthermore, it offers direct epigenetic information about the sequences. The extraordinary length of the reads, surpassing 100 Kb and extending up to 2 Mb, is solely determined by the input length of nucleic acid fragments. Its ability to stream sequencing data in real-time provides rapid insights into samples, offering on-demand yield in a dynamic workflow.
