Kurt Hahn (He/Him)
Where are you from?
Rochester, NY
What are you involved in at RIT?
College of Science Student Activities Board, Society of Physics Students, Ballroom Dance.
Why RIT and the College of Science?
RIT has a well-established physics program, as well as a growing graduate physics program. In my time here, I'm grateful for how I have grown academically and socially.
What is your advice for prospective college students?
While you are a student first, never underestimate the value of having meaningful fun and trying new things.
What research projects have you been involved in or are currently working on?
In my first summer, I worked with Dr. Thurston in conducting light scattering studies on beta crystallin and sodium hyaluronate. Later I developed computational models of microring resonators for Dr. Howland's lab. Since the summer of 2024, I have been working with Dr. Parsa in designing and manufacturing porous micromodels to study reactive flow in porous media.
Have you attended or presented research at any conferences?
I've presented at RIT's 32nd and 33rd Undergraduate Research Symposiums, as well as at a conference on porous media at the Schlumberger-Doll Research Center in Cambridge, MA.
