Concavity and Convexity

Organic Form: Learning Control and Subtlety with Convexity and Concavity | This exercise asks students to concentrate on studying the subtle relationships between dominant, subdominant, and subordinate elements within convex or concave forms. Through carefully composing axial, planar, and configuration curves, they begin to experiment with surface tension, volumetric movement, and hierarchical relationships. Although the final piece is carved from plaster, students begin by designing through sketching and small clay models.
