Peter Pincus
A ceramics class for non-majors allowed students from various disciplines to investigate the connective tissue between the earliest forms of the field and the contemporary pottery practices of today. The course — Josiah Wedgwood's Legacy taught by Assistant Professor Peter Pincus — exemplifies Rochester Institute of Technology's strategic focus on technology, the arts and design.
For one assignment, "Revisionist Antiquities," students employed contemporary pottery practices, modern fabrication processes like 3D printing and historical knowledge of 18th-century potter Josiah Wedgwood to efficiently create replicas of ancient Greek vessels.
