Me, Myself, and Italy
Patty and I flew to Venice on Saturday, July 11, 2015. I had a speaking engagement at Benetton’s Fabrica Design Institute in Treviso on Monday, July 13. After a wonderful stay in the Benetton residence in Treviso, we spent a week visiting Florence, Bologna, and Venice.
Patty took the picture of me on the cover. There is no doubt that the selfie, and particularly the selfie stick, has become the standard vacation photo. At one point in Venice, a woman asked me to use her camera to take a photo of her family. It was an odd return to an earlier cultural norm. The selfie revolution guarantees that we will have no pictures ever again that do not represent their subjects as they would want to be seen. The selfie and the delete button will ensure it.
