Natural Dishwashers

During the last twenty years Industrial Design has developed a new vision that understands products not as an end, but as means to an end. Traditional design approach focuses on developing products that operate well while being comfortable and attractive. A new approach is elevating products to a new plateau where they achieve emotional connections with their users. Such approach, referred to as Emotional Design, perceives designed objects as bridges that allow consumers to experience their environment with pleasure and emotion. This body of work utilizes the home appliance industry as a case study to demonstrate the importance of incorporating emotion into the design process.

The objectives of this exploration are:

• Develop conceptual models for dish cleaning based on natural water physical occurrences that highlight the emotional experience of water.

• Address environmental issues of water consumption by proposing a self sufficient hydrological system in the house.

• Improve the convenience of use of home appliances by focusing on usability and household integration.

• Present water as a precious and crucial element of life in order to recover the level of water reverence that has been lost in our society.
