Tactile. Luminous. Natural
This quaint country house was the first straw bale home constructed in Honeoye Falls, New York. Natural plasters were an ideal finish to compliment the natural straw bale walls. The robust color of the clays create a warm, rich palette making this unique home truly special. The existing straw bale walls required some remediation and a final coat of base plaster prior to the color coat. Naturally pigmented clays hand harvested from clay veins in New Mexico, rich in luminous Mica, a silicate mineral, were used as the final plaster.
This project was featured in the book "Space Matters" by Kathleen Cox and highlighted in the Channel 8 News "Go Green" Series.
