The Biggest Little Heart

Note: Christianna Rose ’11 (CIAS) and Paolo Varrenti celebrated the birth of their first child and future RIT Tiger, Sebastian Cosmo Varrenti, on April 17, 2023. Sebastian has the biggest smile and heart and already loves photo shoots just like his mom. He was recently diagnosed with a rare heart condition called pulmonary artery sling and will face open heart surgery in the coming weeks. Our family and friends look forward to his recovery as the biggest little heart is repaired.

Monroe County Director of Public Safety

Name: Richard Tantalo

Class Year(s): 1978

Note: Richard V. Tantalo ’78 (CLA) was appointed to serve as the Director of Public Safety for the County of Monroe in 2020. This agency has oversight of 12 Divisions that provide public safety services to our community. Director Tantalo retired in 2020 as the Chief of Police of the Irondequoit Police Dept.

The Beals

Name: Tim Beal

Note: Tim Beal ’20 (KGCOE) married Nichelle Kelly on June 9th, 2023. I met Nichelle soon after graduating from RIT. Back in my hometown area, I didn’t have many dedicated volleyball players to create a competitive team with locally. So I reached out to some teams at a sports bar. I was given Nichelle’s number as she was the team captain. We instantly became best friends and never looked back. We got married in Vernon, NY and now are living in Chittenango, NY.

Note: Kailee Polimeni ’16, ME ’18 (KGCOE) and Trevor Crandell ’13, MS ’19 (KGCOE) got married in August 2022. They’re both RIT graduates. In the picture are five RIT alumni. Michael Crandell is a graduate of RIT KGCOE in 1986. Trevor (myself) and Spencer are identical twins who both went to RIT and graduated with B.S. from KGCOE as Mechanical Engineers in 2013. Trevor (myself) then went on to do a M.S. with KGCOE and graduated in 2019. Rachel and Spencer are married and are both graduates of RIT. Rachel graduated from CAST in 2013 with a B.S. and a M.S. in 2014 from CAST. Kailee graduated KGCOE in 2016 with a B.S. and then in 2018 with a M.Eng. I met Kailee when I was going back to RIT for my M.S. and she was working as a co-op at the company I worked for. After dating for almost 5 years we got married in Onieda, NY. We both live in Farmington, NY now and work at companies near Rochester.

Note: Amanda Weissman ’09, MS’09 (KGCOE/COS) and Adam Weissman ’09, MS ’10 Wow(KGCOE) were both recognized with Lockheed Martin Rotary Missions and Systems’ highest award, Evening of Excellence. Amanda received the People Focused award for her efforts in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Amanda was also recently promoted to Principal Systems Engineer. Adam received the Growth Focused Technical Excellence award for his efforts to stand up the US Navy Forge Software Factory. Adam is currently a DevSecOps Senior Manager. They work together on the US Navy’s future combat systems at the Forge in College Park, MD.
