Charity Auction

RIT Croatia’s Charity Auction is a 20-year-old tradition that the members of the Student Government have started and now maintain.  During the summer, students pick an organization or a family in need to whom they choose to donate. In early October they start to contact partner companies and collect different donations. Not only that, but they often include the whole campus community - students, faculty and staff members have an opportunity to donate as well. They can also purchase bingo tickets at this time. In the last couple of years, the Charity Auction has consisted of 2 parts, silent and live auction, and this year is no different.

Charity Auction 2023 is also organized in a hybrid mode. The silent auction starts on November 27th, 2023, and members of the RIT Croatia community have an opportunity to get great Christmas gifts for their loved ones (or for themselves). The live event happens on December 1st, 2023  – in Love Bar in Dubrovnik and in Lorca Bar in Zagreb.

This event is a great opportunity for the college community to get together and donate to this wonderful cause. The most exciting items are usually saved for the live auction. Not only that, but the live auction event is always fun –  the president and vice president often get pranked by their fellow Student Government members. It’s all for a good cause.  To make the event even more fun and engaging, there will be a photo booth and a wheel of fortune at the live events in both locations. After the event, all donations are summed up and the money is donated to the chosen organization.

Krijesnica is an association that is dedicated to helping children who have malignant diseases and their families. Their main goal is to improve the quality of life of those children. They were founded 23 years ago. Krijesnica offers free accommodation to the families of children who are staying in Zagreb’s hospitals as well as psychosocial and technical support to the parents. They offer different education and free translation of medical documentation. Krijesnica also organizes a rehabilitation camp Krijesnica for its members. Regarding transportation, they offer discounted train and flight tickets. They make it possible for families to not pay tolls. It is important to note that they offer a lot of volunteering opportunities for anyone who wants to help.
