Applying for Transfer Admission

Admission to RIT Croatia is competitive, but our admission process is a personal one. Each application is reviewed holistically for strength of academic preparation, motivation level and your personal career interests. We seek applicants from a variety of geographic, social, cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. RIT Croatia regularly enrolls transfer students from Croatia, immediate region, but also from countries like USA, Canada, Australia, and many others.

To apply for transfer admission to RIT Croatia, applicants must do the following steps:

  • complete the online application form,
  • in the early stage of the transfer process, you will be required to send us a copy of your college grade transcript together with course descriptions at admissions@croatia.rit.edu so we can start the preliminary transfer process. RIT will evaluate the transcripts to determine which courses potentially can or cannot be transferred. Any courses with a D or C- grade cannot be transferred. After the application is reviewed by RIT, RIT Croatia will notify the candidate of the results. The process can last between four to eight weeks; therefore, it is important to get an early start on the admission process,
  • write a motivational essay in English language (written in Word or some other program, min. 400 words). The essay should present your personality, achievements, goals, why you chose the specific program of study, why you chose RIT Croatia, and why you think you would be a good candidate for us. The essay should be submitted to the following email address: admissions@croatia.rit.edu,
  • participate in a motivational interview in English with an admissions specialist (in person on our campuses or via Zoom),
  • submit documentation regarding financial aid application or scholarship application. Candidates interested in applying for financial aid or scholarships need to indicate this when filling out the application form. After submitting an online application, our admissions specialist will contact you to provide further information.

The application process is free of charge and non-binding which means that students can make a final decision about enrollment once they get admissions results.

Important note for New Media Design applicants: Candidates who are applying for the New Media Design undergraduate program are required to submit their portfolio as a part of the admission process. The portfolio needs to include at least 10 samples of the original artwork. The artwork may be observational drawings (at least three), original or computer-generated graphics, motion graphics, photographs, animations, and 3D models or renderings. Candidates must provide a link where interactive and digital work can be viewed/downloaded.
Candidates can use any platform supporting portfolio sharing, like ArtStationDribbbleBehance, or similar platforms. All portfolios will be reviewed by a panel of three faculty members: the program area head, a faculty member in the field of arts, and a faculty member in the field of technical sciences. The portfolio is delivered to RIT Croatia's Admissions Office and all candidates for this program will receive instructions on how to proceed with this step.

Applicants may apply for a transfer during their first year of studying or at higher year levels. Students may apply to transfer to RIT Croatia from any accredited higher education institution. There are various accrediting agencies and associations that deal with vocational, technical and professional schools. RIT, however, only awards credit from schools that are regionally accredited. When you send us the name of the university where you are currently enrolled, we will check the accreditation and let you know if you can continue with the process immediately, or you need to submit your transcripts to World Education Services.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions continues to put students first in the admissions process. We continue to use fair and ethical practices as we recruit, review applications and counsel our prospective students and their families. Our admissions officers support and promote ethical responsibility with our colleagues in the admission profession.
