The artist talk with Rebecca Merlic @ Zagreb campus

Description

When: October 10, 2024, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Where:  Rooms 6 & 7, Zagreb campus

About the event:

During the artistic residency in August and September 2024 digital artist Rebecca Merlic researched the disappearing urban and social landscape of historical cafes of Zagreb. The research encompasses the culture of cafes in Zagreb as a social space through different historical periods, archival materials, testimonies and urban legends. This research is a part of a larger project which is looking at similar spaces in Vienna and Japan. As part of the project, the physical spaces and people were digitally scanned, and will be interpolated in the interactive game-like interface which is at the heart of Rebecca's artistic practice. The artistic result of the residency will be showcased in Garage Kamba gallery on the 11th Oct 2024.

The artist talk with Rebecca Merlic at our Zagreb campus will present the artist's practice, her methodology and process of the development of the work which will be showcased in Kamba. In this dialogue, she will showcase her previous, interactive work, and technology she uses to bring physical objects, spaces and people to digital embodiment, which will be available for the audience to try out and discover.
