Eta Sigma Delta (ESD) Chapter of Distinction Award for 2018/19 presented to RIT Croatia ESD Chapter mentored by professor Milena Kužnin

July 30, 2019

Eta Sigma Delta (ESD) is an international hospitality honor society that recognizes the academic excellence of students pursuing a degree in hospitality, tourism and culinary arts. Every year, the ESD Chapter of Distinction Award is given to the chapter that showcased the ESD Five Pillars of Honor in the best way, and those are: excellence, leadership, creativity, service, and ethics.

The award for 2018/19 was presented at the annual summer International Council for Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) conference in New Orleans, LA USA on Friday, July 26, 2019 and we are proud that this year's winner is the Croatian ESD Chapter, mentored by professor Milena Kužnin. The award was received on professor Kužnin's behalf by Dr. Muhammet Kesgin from RIT.

"In the academic year 2018/19, our chapter has exemplified themselves by practicing the five pillars of excellence. By engaging with the community, devoting services and inspiring professional distinction we have fully represented the potential of Croatian Eta Sigma Delta Chapter. The students involved in our society represent the best and brightest of upcoming hospitality professionals and we believe that our chapter is providing a great platform for their further development and growth. The Croatian chapter of Eta Sigma Delta was a worthy candidate for the ESD Chapter of Distinction award for the year of 2019 because of our actions towards the five pillars of excellence and representation of iChrie's Eta Sigma Delta", said professor Kužnin.

The ESD Chapter of Distinction Award applications are reviewed by the ESD Board of Governors. The award is open only to active ESD chapters who adhered to the ESD bylaws by holding at least one initiation ceremony during the past year, organized at least one service project and using the "proposed theme" approved by Chapter Advisors at the annual July ICHRIE Conference ESD Chapter Advisor meeting. The chapter's activities are descripted in a detailed statement describing how their local chapter upheld the five ESD pillars.

Congratulations to all ESD members!
