Insights into Student Co-ops: Anton Marinčić and his Internship at Qure Skincare
This week we had the pleasure of speaking with Anton Marinčić, a Hospitality & Tourism Management student at RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik Campus, who has just completed his second year. Currently employed at Qure Skincare, Anton balances his academic and professional responsibilities while working remotely. In this interview, he shares insights on time management, the benefits of remote work, and how his co-op experience has enriched his skills and career prospects.
Q: How do you stay organized and manage your time effectively while working remotely?
Anton: I stick to strict schedules. My shifts are divided, so I have to ensure I finish one task right on time so I can start the next one right on time. There are over 50 of us working at the company, so we all have equally divided shifts.
Q: Why did you choose to work remotely?
Anton: I chose to work remotely because there are better opportunities online in my opinion, and it's more enjoyable for me than traditional in-person jobs. I also appreciate the flexibility it offers.
Q: What does your day look like?
Anton: My day starts at 3 PM and ends at 11 PM. The first two hours involve working on a new project with my cousin, who is my boss and CEO, designing and creating a VIP community for customers. After this, I handle customer service shifts on Zendesk, including live chat and phone calls, in the USA EST time zone. I also manage social media responses across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. There's always something to keep me busy!
Q: How did your internship help you develop time management and self-discipline skills, and how do these skills relate to your studies?
Anton: My internship taught me to manage my time effectively and to improve my self-discipline, crucial skills in my studies and career. It also enhanced my communication abilities which are essential for customer interactions.
Q: What are the top 3 advantages of doing a co-op?
Anton: Gaining valuable knowledge and skills.
Enjoy engaging work that keeps you busy.
Acquire practical experience that boosts your resume.
