RIT Croatia accepts 10 students for its Honors Program
An honors program is an academically rigorous endeavor for top students in which they get to work individually with the faculty of their choice on a certain topic within the course they are taking
With the purpose to provide excellent students with opportunities to advance their knowledge in a particular course, RIT Croatia launched its Honors Program this fall.
We’re happy to announce that we have accepted 10 students into the Program so far: Leon Bastalić, Nina Bogunović, Nikola Črček, Mia Ivančić, Luka Krpan, Doroteja Krtalić, Lana Matijašević, Marta Primorac, Luka Puntijar, and Tara Rakočević. They will be working with the following faculty members for the fall semester: Dr. Luka Boršić, Dr. Francis Brassard, Dr. Irena Guszak, Dr. Milivoj Marković, Dr. Branko Mihaljević, Dr. Kristina Šorić, and Dr. Maja Vidović.
The program was developed and is administered by Dr. Jakob Patekar, General Education and Research Chair, and Marija Šušak Mišetić, Academic Affairs and Student Services Manager.
„An honors program is an academically rigorous endeavor for top students in which they get to work individually with the faculty of their choice on a certain topic within the course they are taking," said Dr. Patekar. „In other words, together with their mentor, students explore a particular topic within the faculty's area of expertise. This will result in a deliverable such as a study, a paper, a project, and similar. For this fall semester, we offered courses from various subject areas: Critical Thinking, HR, Management, Computing, Discrete Mathematics, Marketing, Heritage and Tourism, and others. I am confident this will result in a high quality deliverables from students."
Who is the Honors Program intended for?
The Honors program is intended for highly motivated students who wish to get the maximum from their education at RIT Croatia. All students interested in applying must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- A minimum of two years of academic coursework remaining at RIT to complete the undergraduate degree, beginning with the upcoming fall semester.
How to Apply?
A call is put out via e-mail to students who have the required GPA. The application will need to include the following:
- Students will describe how membership in the Honors Program will contribute to their educational, professional, or research goals
- Two faculty recommendations (forms enclosed with the application).
The decision is made by the administrators of the Honors Program.
„There are many benefits of the Honors Program, but students' increased knowledge about the chosen subject will be the biggest advantage for them, and will also add to the whole body of research of RIT Croatia." said Marija Šušak Mišetić. „Congratulations to the fall semester Honors programs students (and faculty )! We look forward to more options in the spring semester."
