RIT Croatia faculty and students present at 10th International Java Conference in Croatia - JavaCro'22

Our WMC students, Dora Beronić, Lara Modrić, and Nina Novosel, together with Dr. Branko Mihaljević and Dr. Aleksander Radovan, attended the 10th International Java Conference in Croatia - JavaCro'22 Spring in Tuhelj.

Dora Beronić, Lara Modrić, and Nina Novosel, together with their mentor Dr. Branko Mihaljević, held a presentation named "Performance Enhancements using Virtual Threads and Modern Memory Management." This presentation is a result of two student projects related to new structured concurrency constructs called Virtual Threads and contemporary scalable low-latency and region-based low-pause parallel and concurrent garbage collectors, G1, ZGC, and Shenandoah.

Dr. Branko Mihaljević, together with his colleagues Dr. Aleksander Radovan, Stjepan Matijašević, and Dr. Martin Žagar, held a community keynote speech about "The Present and Future of Java," presenting the current state of the Java tech ecosystem as well as interesting features of the Java programming language, such as Switch Expressions, Text Blocks, Pattern Matching, Records, Foreign Function and Memory API, Vector API, and Sealed Classes, and prospective outcomes of new projects like Amber, Valhalla, Graal, and Loom.

Dr. Aleksander Radovan, together with Dr. Branko Mihaljević, held a presentation, "Will Java allow hardware-specific code?" about new functionalities and capabilities of the Vector API interface and analyzed code execution speed on specific processors.
