RIT Croatia Fusion Fest Blends American and Croatian Christmas Cultures in Dubrovnik
On November 28, the Eta Sigma Delta honorary society of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program at RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik campus, in collaboration with the Meeting & Events Management class led by faculty member Milena Kužnin, organized a delightful and festive event named RIT Croatia Fusion Fest. The event, held at RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik campus, offered a unique merge of American and Croatian Christmas traditions, bringing together students, faculty, and staff for a day of holiday cheer.
The Fusion Fest featured a diverse range of engaging activities allowing participants to immerse themselves in the richness of Christmas cultures from both sides of the Atlantic. Participants had the opportunity to test their knowledge of both Croatian and American Christmas cultures in a fun Christmas quiz. The quiz was not just a mental exercise but a sensory delight, as attendees enjoyed traditional foods and drinks. Creativity took center stage as participants engaged in a gingerbread house-making competition. The participants worked in teams and showcased impressive artistic skills, with exciting prizes for those who demonstrated exceptional skill in crafting the most festive and imaginative gingerbread houses. The Fusion Fest also celebrated the artistic talents of its participants with a Christmas ornaments making workshop. Attendees took part in a friendly competition by creating beautiful ornaments with festive designs that reflected the joyous spirit of the season. For a touch of playful competition, the Christmas Pong Game put a festive twist on the classic Beer Pong, without alcohol, of course! Participants engaged in dares and friendly challenges, adding a lighthearted and entertaining element to the celebration.
The Fusion Fest also extended an invitation for volunteers with culinary skills to not only participate in the event but to contribute to the preparation of Christmas meals. This collaborative effort added a collective touch to the festivities, emphasizing the spirit of sharing and togetherness. And, it’s a well-known fact that food and drinks are one of the best options for connecting people across all cultures.
Adding to the overall vibrancy of the event, a festive dress code encouraged attendees to wear something with a splash of red or a hint of holiday flair.
The warm regards expressed by the organizers at the beginning of the event emphasized the importance of such events for creating unforgettable memories together, which was most certainly the case. The Fusion Fest at RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik campus successfully brought people together in the spirit of cultural exchange, creativity, and festive joy, exemplifying the sense of community that defines the RIT Croatia experience.
