RIT Croatia students raise the record amount of close to 45.000 HRK

RIT Croatia students raised close to 45,000 HRK at this year’s traditional charity auction held both in Dubrovnik and Zagreb. The funds raised will go to the family Komlenac.

Another successful annual Charity Auction is behind us. As impressions slowly settle, we are becoming aware of how big an impact we can make as a community by helping those in need. 

This year’s Charity Auction took place in two formats, a silent auction, and a live auction, and included individual donations from the members of our community. The silent auction lasted from 21st to 25th of November, and our community bid for auctioned items over the online AirAuctioneer platform. 

The live event was held at two locations, club Dubina in Dubrovnik, and bistro Pappar in Zagreb. RIT Croatia students with alumni, faculty and staff attended the live events. Beside the live auction, there were various additional activities our community could enjoy, like listening to music, making memories at the photo booth, and impatiently waiting for tombola results. It was a joyful and lovely event with a warm atmosphere that brought us all closer together as a community. At the end of the night, we managed to raise close to 45,000 HRK (more than 6,200 USD) for the family Komlenac from Dubrovnik, whose family member, a firefighter, lost his life  extinguishing a fire near Orašac in Dubrovnik County.

This humanitarian auction is one of the extracurricular activities of RIT Croatia that started more than 20 years ago. RIT Croatia’s Student Government, faculty, staff, and other students participate in the event by bidding for items donated by members of our community as well as companies and organizations RIT Croatia cooperates with. The event requires a lot of effort, but it pays off exceptionally.

"First of all, I want to congratulate all the members of the Student Government from both campuses on a successful event, and then a huge Thank You to all the students, employees and alumni of RIT Croatia who helped us break the record this year. I would like to especially thank the companies from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Germany, who donated items for our auction", said Marta Primorac, the Student Government President of RIT Croatia.

 "I would like to thank all the donors who responded in very large number this year, but also all the bidders who helped us break the record. I owe special thanks to the entire team of the Student Government who worked on this event throughout the semester and who are responsible for the incredible results”, said Teodora Grozdanić, the Student Government Vice President from Dubrovnik campus.
