Student Zara Plevko wins a multilingual music competition

On the occasion of celebrating Europe Day on May 9, 2024, the Croatian Association of Foreign Language Teachers invited primary and secondary school students and university students from Croatia to record videos with the author's text and music in French, Italian, German, and Spanish language.

The song and music in the video work had to be the author's work of students that had never been presented or awarded before. The video work had to be exclusively the result of the contestant's work. Video topics included Green Europe, Inclusion, Equality, United in diversity, EU and youth, Competences, iGen/Generation Z, and Generation Alpha.

Our International Business student, Zara Plevko, won first place in a multilingual music competition in the university category! Her mentor, Professor Barbara Perić, encouraged her students to apply, to sharpen their skills, explore new experiences, and enhance their capabilities. This was a collaboration in which Professor Perić wrote the text in Spanish, and Zara composed the music, worked on the video, played the instruments, and sang.

Events like multilingual music contests play an important role in promoting multilingualism among young people,“ said Barbara Perić. „By showcasing songs in various languages, these events spark interest and curiosity in other cultures, encouraging young audiences to appreciate linguistic diversity. Young people often become inspired to learn new languages, fostering cross-cultural connections and breaking down barriers.“

Congratulations, Zara and Professor Perić!
