Unveiling Innovations: EChOes of the Neretva Delta Soar to Victory at Imagine RIT Festival 2024

We are beyond proud to announce that the project "EChOes of the Neretva Delta: Wings of the Wind" has been selected as the top proposal for the presentation of RIT Croatia at the Imagine RIT, Innovation & Creativity Festival, which will be held at the Rochester campus on April 27, 2024.

The project was designed by students Leona Sentić, Josip Vukašin and Marko Radulović (Dubrovnik campus), under the mentorship of Dr.Marlena Ćukteraš. The goal of the project is to increase public interest in anthropogenic impacts and climate change. Using a 3D printer, students will create a model of Neretva Delta that will show its importance, as well as the importance of individual species and habitats. Furthermore, they will use technology and measure the effects of installed models of wind farms and solar collectors on individual species. Students will also demonstrate additional anthropogenic impacts by measuring water quality and the amount of microplastics in different water samples.

This year RIT Croatia is especially proud of the fact that 9 teams were applying for the Imagine RIT festival! Their proposals were rated by two faculty members from RIT Croatia: Dr. Jakob Patekar and Dr. Evelina Miščin; Lyndsey McGrath from RIT Global and Tom Connor, former vice president of creative marketing at Walt Disney Co. and Assistant Provost of RIT in LA. They were scored on 4 rubrics: creativity of the exhibit and project, Innovative spirit of the exhibit, interactivity with festival attendees, and representation of how the project uniquely reflects the RIT global campus of the student team.
