Communications & Digital Systems Lab

In this Laboratory, students use FEEDBACK Modulation and Coding work boards (53- 230), RAT (Real-time access terminal) (92-203), MATLAB and ADS simulation tools to conduct experiments in analog and digital communication and Electromagnetic Fields.

This allows students to do experiments on digital and analog modulation, propagation, attenuation and dispersion, reflection, standing waves, characteristic impedance, resonance, capacitive detuning; reactive line impedance, measurement of source frequency, guide wavelength, measurement of voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), measurement of diode detector law, measurement of impedance and impedance matching, waveguide- to-coaxial transformers, etc.

The Lab is equipped with Dell OptiPlex 7070 SFF 22” LCD PCSs, a smart panel 86” Touch Panel from ViewSonic, Altera Quartus II ver. 13.1 and ModelSim ver. 10 software which allows students to work on simulation of experiments individually and then implement the design using Altera DE2 Boards.
