Overview
The Arabic Language is spoken by over 422 million people worldwide. The Arabic Language is the official language of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Western Sahara, Yemen and is widely spoken in Somalia.
Arabic is one of the six official Languages of the United Nations. Arabic is the language of the Holy Qur’an which preserved the original form of Arabic used in the seventh century. Arabic is read from right to left with 28 letters. Modern standardized Arabic is the official language of the Arab world is a slightly modified form of the classical Arabic found in the Quran.
Classical Language is known as Fus’ha (MSA – Modern Standard Arabic) and is used in written texts & spoken in formal occasions such as speeches, sermons, and the news. Many forms of spoken colloquial Arabic are used daily in homes, streets, and shops. Studying Arabic can open you to a world that can take you to understand Arab culture and the Muslim world. Broadening your horizons and learning more about other cultures will enhance your skills and broaden your opportunities.
This introductory course is designed for beginners who have little to no prior knowledge of Arabic. It aims to provide a solid foundation in the language, focusing on the basics of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum noted that Arabic will remain the language of the future, as well as of science and innovation, thanks to its flexibility and its historic role in different cultures.

Learning Outcomes
- Write simple grammatical sentences in Arabic and read short texts related to daily life.
- Answer simple questions and follow basic directions in Arabic.
- Communicate simple Arabic sentences with growing confidence and express personal thoughts in Arabic.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Arabic culture through learned vocabulary.
