Basketball at RIT Dubai is an enriching experience that enables its participants to grow both as Players and Students.
Our Women's and Men's Basketball teams have developed significantly over the past few years to earn a reputation of being hardworking, well-organized, and exhibit a true tiger spirit. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced; team practices and individual workouts are structured in a competitive way to fast track your development whether it be motor ability, technical skills, or knowledge of the game.
Players can expect 4 to 6+ hours of team practices, individual workouts, and customized gym programs alongside regular game tape analysis.
Pre-season will offer friendlies leading up to regular in-season games comprised of competitive league fixtures and tournaments across the UAE. Our Basketball teams are built on strong values and mantras that promote positive psychology and a unified culture both on and off the court.
Josh Rolls Tyson
Basketball Coach (Men)
Josh Rolls-Tyson has actively played basketball for 11 years and has 5 years of coaching experience. He has represented Great Britain Under 20's for the European Championships, captained his junior college team in California USA. He joined RIT as a basketball coach in 2017 and is currently playing in expat leagues in Dubai, UAE.

Basketball Coach (Women)
"Once an athlete, always an athlete." This phrase perfectly captures Coach Legiel and her athlete’s mindset toward her first love, basketball. She began her journey as a varsity athlete in school, continuing through university, where she won every national championship. Coach Legiel trained with the national team and the Philippine Army, representing her country in international competitions. Upon moving to the UAE, she became an active and key member of the UAE basketball community, earning numerous titles, MVP awards, and Best Coach honors. With her extensive sports and basketball coaching credentials, she has taught at several centers, including the Dubai Police Academy.
