Black Poetry and Black Lives Matter Presentation
Black poets and educators will discuss Black poetry as an art form, ranging across traditional poetic genres and traditions to hip-hop and rap. They will discuss how artists have responded to the Black experience of state-sponsored violence, from slavery to police brutality in the 21st century, and the role of poetry in celebrating and uplifting Black culture.
Voice interpretation and captioning provided.
April is Poetry Month and this is inspired by the Big Read: NTID celebrating Deaf History Month.
