Dr. Jill Bradbury, chair of NTID Performing Arts and NEA's Big Read awardee, will discuss "Deaf Republic" by Ilya Kaminsky. This is a hybrid program being offered in-person and via Zoom Victor Farmington Public Library.

Please join us and become a part of Big Read: NTID. This book and discussion will explore the themes of language, power and community, spotlight the history of deaf poetry in the United States, and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to experiment with poetry as a means of expressing their own experiences of language, power and community.

Author Ilya Kaminsky is a hard-of-hearing Ukrainian immigrant whose family was granted political asylum due to anti-semitism. Kaminsky is best known for his poetry collections, including "Deaf Republic," "Traveling Musicians," and "Dancing in Odessa," which have earned him several awards.
