Bio

Mimoza Mustafa has joined RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) in 2006 as a lecturer of Mathematics and Statistics courses. Since then she had an opportunity of teaching many courses of her expertise: Critical Math Skills, Interdisciplinary Math I, Interdisciplinary Math II, Statistics I, Statistics II, Precalculus, Senior Capstone. Ms. Mustafa is also actively engaged as senator in RITK Academic Senate as well as in different committees of the institution. She also chaired the Senate during academic year 2015-2016.

Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate studies in University of Ljubljana in the field of Interdisciplinary Statistics. She earned an MSc degree in Quantitative Finance in Cass Business School, London, UK. While, her undergraduate studies she completed in University of Prishtina in Applied Mathematics. Her teaching experience started at University of Prishtina, within Department of Mathematics where she was engaged as teaching assistant for seven years.

Parallel to her teaching experience Ms. Mustafa pursued her career also in the financial sector. She held important positions in the field of finance, in different local and international institutions. For eight years she worked as Senior Economist in Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), within Financial Stability and Economic Analysis Department (FSEAD).  As her main contribution and achievement was developing and implementing the stress-testing exercise on the Kosovo banking sector, as well as building the framework on compiling the Financial Soundness Indicators (FSIs).

As of July 2023, Ms Mustafa is appointed as a board member of the Kosovo Pension Savings Trust (KPST). The practical experience of providing valuable knowledge in financial management and governance practices within the public sector complements Ms Mustafa’s academic ambition of professional contribution to the community. The role underlines her commitment to making an impactful contribution beyond classroom, bridging theory with practical application in the field of finance and public policy.

Her main areas of interests are: applied mathematics with focus in finance; financial stability; financial sector risk management, mainly credit, liquidity and market risk.

Currently Teaching

MATH-111
3 Credits
This course provides the background for an introductory level, trigonometry-based calculus course. Topics include functions and their graphs, with an emphasis on functions that commonly appear in calculus including polynomials, rational functions, trigonometric functions, exponential functions, and logarithmic functions. The course also includes the analytic geometry of conic sections. One hour each week will be devoted to a collaborative learning workshop.
STAT-145
3 Credits
This course introduces statistical methods of extracting meaning from data, and basic inferential statistics. Topics covered include data and data integrity, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, numeric summary measures, the normal distribution, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. The emphasis of the course is on statistical thinking rather than computation. Statistical software is used.
