RIT Kosovo Professor Dr. Jeton Mehmeti Publishes In-Depth Study on Kosovo’s Media Landscape

RIT Kosovo is proud to announce the publication of a research study by Dr. Jeton Mehmeti, our Public Policy Professor. His latest work, titled "The Expanding Media Landscape, Decline in Journalists' Safety, and Low Media Literacy – The Future of the Media in Kosovo", provides an in-depth analysis of Kosovo's rapidly evolving media environment.

The study explores several crucial aspects of the country's media system, including:

• The rise of online news platforms and increased media pluralism
• Ongoing challenges to journalist safety and press freedom
• Shifting trends in media consumption, particularly the move from traditional TV to social media
• The concerning decline in media literacy
• The need for comprehensive media law reforms

In an era of rapid digitalization, Kosovo’s media landscape faces both opportunities and challenges. While media pluralism has expanded, the rise of disinformation, declining trust, and legal uncertainties present significant risks. Dr. Mehmeti’s research, part of the Our Media regional project, aims to spark vital discussions and inform future reforms that address these challenges.
