Minister Mehaj addresses students of the Frederick C. Cuny Peace and Conflict Summer Program
On July 12, 2022, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) was pleased to host Mr. Armend Mehaj, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, as a Guest Speaker at the Frederick C. Cuny Peace and Conflict Summer Program. Prof. Colonel (Ret.) Michael E. Hess, Lecturer and Director of the Summer Program, welcomed the Minister and introduced him to the diverse group of students who for more than four weeks engage in an intensive study program that enhances lecture and workshop simulation exercise with seminar discussions on current issues.
During his address to the students, Minister Mehaj spoke about national and regional security, with a focus on the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the strategic goal of euro-Atlantic integration. Student participants at the summer program had a unique chance to interact with the Minister and to discuss some of the most pressing security-related topics that affect today not only the region but also beyond.
The Frederick C. Cuny Peace and Conflict Summer Program gives students the tools to analyze the history, politics and economics of contemporary, violent conflict. Courses are taught by senior civilian and military officials, NGO activists and academics with hands-on experience in the Balkans, Middle East and elsewhere.
